The complex will create 198 apartments along with 3,000 square feet of retail space. Amenities include on-site parking for 310 cars, a fitness center, a pool, fire pits, cabanas, grills, and an outdoor entertainment space.

Plans to develop an eight-story residential complex at Rockridge Geotechnical’s 1150 Kifer Road site in Sunnyvale have been recommended for approval. This development would add 225 apartments to a growing transit-oriented hub in Sunnyvale and Santa Clara around the Lawrence Caltrain Station. Moreover, out of the 225 units, 44 will be affordable for low-income and very low-income households. The complex will also include amenity decks, as well as abundant landscaped space.

New leasing activity is occurring at a manufacturing building at 550 East Brokaw Road in San Jose, one of Rockridge Geotechnical’s sites. San Jose-based Supermicro Computer signed a lease for over 124,000 square feet at the site, the second-largest new lease signed in the third quarter of this year. Currently, the site is undergoing a massive redevelopment, creating seven eight-story office buildings and two parking structures to accommodate over 5,300 cars. Moreover, landscaped terraces will cover nearly 85,000 square feet of space.

Plans have been approved for an eight-story apartment complex at Rockridge Geotechnical’s 1598 University Avenue site in Berkeley. This development will create 207 new units, 21 of which will be affordable, along with nearly 6,000 square feet of commercial retail space. 1598 University aims to be transit-oriented, as it is within walking distance of both the North Berkeley and Downtown Berkeley BART stations.

More details have come out regarding the $7 million dedicated by the University of California Board of Regents to the student housing development at 2200 Bancroft Way in Berkeley, one of Rockridge Geotechnical’s sites. The $7 million will be used for architecture design fees, campus administration, pre-design studies and environmental planning items, and surveys, tests, and plans. Construction will require additional financing. Moreover, we have learned that the building will be between 10 and 15 stories in height, and it will include amenities such as a dining facility, fitness space, study rooms, and lounges.

Renderings have been released for the future clubhouse of the non-profit United Playaz, with this structure being located at Rockridge Geotechnical’s 1044 Howard Street site in San Francisco. An existing two-story building on-site will be renovated to create the clubhouse, which will include a community center with amenities such as a rooftop basketball court. The United Playaz non-profit aims to assist in youth development and violence prevention, and the new clubhouse will also include a community hall, meeting rooms, and offices, helping the non-profit expand its family literacy and adult reentry programs. Around $2 million in state funds was used to help this development come to fruition.
