The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors approved a $14 million loan for the renovation of Midway Village, an affordable housing development at Rockridge Geotechnical’s site at 88 Park Street in Daly City. Originally constructed in the 1970s, the updated Midway Village will create 555 affordable units across five phases; Phase 1, which consisted of 147 units, was completed in May. The $14 million loan will help fund the 111-unit Phase 2, and 29 of those units will be allocated to clients of the County’s Behavioral Health and Recovery Services program.

Construction has topped out for the Kelsey Civic Center affordable housing development at Rockridge Geotechnical’s 240 Van Ness Avenue site in San Francisco. The complex will contain 112 affordable units, a quarter of which will be dedicated to residents with disabilities, and a 1,180-square-foot Disability Cultural Community Center. This community center will include pop-up spaces for disability-forward businesses, a co-working space, and a public gallery.

A final design review application was filed for a UC Berkeley student housing development at 2587 Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley, one of Rockridge Geotechnical’s sites. The project would create 219 bedrooms across 52 dorm-style units, along with 2,900 square feet of ground-level retail space and parking for 79 bicycles. Of the 52 units, six will be designated as affordable for very low-income residents.

Construction is nearly complete on the five-story affordable housing complex at Rockridge Geotechnical’s 4840 Mission Street site in San Francisco. Called Islais Place, the development will create 137 units, 35 of which will be set aside for residents from the HOPE SF program. The complex will also contain a 10,000-square-foot health clinic and 5,000 square feet of retail space, as well as a 39-car garage and parking for 136 bicycles.

The Concord Planning Commission will review plans for a 183-unit apartment complex at 1650 Ashbury Drive, one of Rockridge Geotechnical’s sites. Of the 183 apartments, 20 will be affordable for very low-income households, and on-site parking will be included for 93 cars and 60 bicycles. The six-story building will also contain two courtyards with seating and landscaped space for residents.

Permits were filed for a new 75-unit residential project at Rockridge Geotechnical’s site at 2094 Mount Diablo Boulevard in Walnut Creek. The ground level of the development will also contain new commercial spaces, replacing existing commercial spaces on-site that will need to be demolished.

New details have been released regarding a proposed residential tower at Rockridge Geotechnical’s 180 Hawthorne Street site in San Francisco, as developer N17 Development looks to add six stories to the building. If successful, the complex would increase to 40 stories, and it would create 320 new rental homes, 48 of which would be affordable. Amenities within the high-rise tower would include a fitness center, coworking room, small pool, sauna, indoor lounge, and landscaped outdoor seating.

A new two-story office complex has been proposed at 811 Cedar Street in Berkeley, one of Rockridge Geotechnical’s sites. A parking garage will also be built under the office space. To construct this new building, plans call for the demolition of the existing single-family residence and detached garage on the site.

Developer NX Ventures recently broke ground on a 207-unit apartment complex at 1598 University Avenue in Berkeley, one of Rockridge Geotechnical’s sites. The units will consist of studio and one-bedroom apartments, and NX Ventures, which is behind multiple new residential developments in Berkeley, hopes to finish construction during the summer of 2025.

New renderings were released for an eight-story residential development at Rockridge Geotechnical’s site at 104 Constitution Drive in Menlo Park. Of the 140 apartments, 28 will be affordable, allowing the developer to utilize the builder’s remedy for this project. On-site parking for 142 cars will be included in a three-story podium garage.
