Permits have been filed to construct an eight-story, 52-unit student housing complex at Rockridge Geotechnical’s 2587 Telegraph Avenue site near UC Berkeley. The dorm-style complex would feature a total of 219 beds, and of the 52 units, six will be affordable for very low-income households. The project is currently awaiting final approval after going through the City of Berkeley’s Design Review Commission and Zoning Adjustments Board.

This project would create 77 more units near the MacArthur BART station, along with on-site parking for cars and bicycles. A grand opening ceremony was recently held for the Celeste apartment complex at Rockridge Geotechnical’s site at 401 Cypress Avenue in South San Francisco. The eight-story, 195-unit development is located near the city’s Caltrain station, adding to the list of transit-oriented projects constructed in recent years. The complex will also include a courtyard and on-site parking for cars and bicycles.

Developer Affirmed Housing Group celebrated the grand opening of the 79-unit Vitalia affordable housing complex at 3100 South Bascom Avenue in San Jose, one of Rockridge Geotechnical’s sites. The five-story development will contain 39 units of permanent supportive housing, and residents will have access to amenities such as a ground-level courtyard and rooftop deck. Moreover, the complex will contain on-site parking and 620 square feet of commercial space.

Called the Alameda Wellness Center, the complex will feature 106 affordable units and one market-rate manager’s unit. Residential amenities will include a private courtyard, a ground-floor multi-purpose amenity space adjacent to a landscaped park, and on-site parking for cars and bicycles. Moreover, the Wellness Center will feature a two-story primary care facility that will help the local unhoused community.

A five-story mixed-use development has been approved at 800 San Antonio Road in Palo Alto, one of Rockridge Geotechnical’s sites. The building will offer 75 residential units, 16 of which will be affordable, and nearly 1,100 square feet of ground-floor retail space. The project will also include a courtyard and other landscaped open space.

An eight-story, 300-unit housing project is being pursued at Rockridge Geotechnical’s 950 West Julian Street site in San Jose. The development will include 297 affordable units and three market-rate units for building managers, along with 7,700 square feet of interior leasing and amenity space. On-site parking for cars and bicycles will also be included.
Construction is nearly complete for the 14-story Anchor House student housing development at 1950 Oxford Street in Berkeley, one of Rockridge Geotechnical’s sites. The building has space for 772 students across 244 apartments, and each apartment will feature amenities such as built-in desks, a kitchen, appliances, and a washer-dryer unit. Additional amenities in the building include a maker space, a culinary classroom, two event spaces, and a fitness center, as well as a community center with a kitchen, outdoor courtyards, and terrace patios.

Plans for a five-story, 100% affordable housing development at Rockridge Geotechnical’s site at 555 Kelly Avenue were approved by the Half Moon Bay Planning Commission. Although there was some pushback against the project, the 40-unit complex will provide housing and services primarily for the local senior and farm working communities. The development will also contain a community room with a commercial kitchen to help with food outreach work done by one of the developers, Ayudando Latinos A Soñar. On-site parking will also be included for 46 cars.

Construction has topped out for the 12-story, 163-unit Ace Berkeley residential complex at Rockridge Geotechnical’s 1951 Shattuck Avenue site in Berkeley. The structure will also contain almost 5,200 square feet of ground-floor retail space, as well as over 12,400 square feet of usable open space across the second floor and rooftop. Parking will be included for 100 vehicles and 120 bicycles, and residential amenities will include coworking rooms, a fitness center, a courtyard, a dog run, and a rooftop deck with fire pits.
