A ribbon cutting was recently held for the grand opening of the Casa Sueños affordable housing complex at Rockridge Geotechnical’s 3511 East 12th Street site in Oakland. The development, which was a joint venture between the Unity Council and BRIDGE Housing, will create 181 units of affordable housing in the Fruitvale neighborhood. The development will also contain 7,500 square feet of retail space to be used by a local nonprofit organization.

Plans have been changed for the residential development at Rockridge Geotechnical’s site at 300 De Haro Street in San Francisco. Instead of a 12-story, 450-unit development with 181 affordable units, the complex will now be 11 stories and contain 425 units, all of which will be affordable. One of the tallest mass timber buildings in the world has been proposed at 1523 Harrison Street in Oakland, one of Rockridge Geotechnical’s sites. The proposal calls for a 28-story, 496-unit residential development with on-site parking for cars and bicycles via a five-story garage. Moreover, 137 of the 496 homes will be affordable for very low-income and moderate-income households, allowing for an increase in the project’s density. Amenities will include a rooftop deck and fifth-floor podium-top deck, which will contain a pool, spa, and dog run.

New renderings and building permits were revealed for a six-story affordable housing development at Rockridge Geotechnical’s 1701 San Pablo Avenue site in Berkeley. This development will create 110 residential units, with one market-rate unit for the property manager and 109 units of affordable workforce housing for employees of the Berkeley Unified School District and their families. The complex will include on-site parking for cars and bicycles, along with over 5,800 square feet of amenity space. These amenities will include a fitness center, community room, courtyard, and co-working space. The rooftop of the building will also contain solar panels, increasing the environmental friendliness of the project.

The Berkeley Design Review Committee will be assessing plans for the eight-story, 207-unit residential complex at Rockridge Geotechnical’s site at 1598 University Avenue. Of the 207 units, 21 will be affordable for very low-income residents, allowing developer NX Ventures to utilize the State Density Bonus.
