Developer Urban Catalyst has received funding to finance the pre-construction phase of the multi-building Icon/Echo development, which is located at Rockridge Geotechnical’s 147 East Santa Clara Street site in San Jose. The Icon/Echo complex was initially going to consist of a 21-story office tower and 27-story residential tower, but the office tower will likely be re-entitled for residential use. Updated plans now show that Urban Catalyst hopes to create about 600 units of housing within the complex.

Permits were cleared for an 18-story mixed-use development at Rockridge Geotechnical’s 2276 Shattuck Avenue site in Berkeley. Nine of the building’s 83 units will be designated as affordable for very low-income households, allowing the development to utilize the State Density Bonus program. The complex will also contain 7,650 square feet of commercial space across two retail spots, and on-site parking will be provided for both the residential and commercial portions of the building. Moreover, the historic façade of the building, which was built in 1906, will be preserved.

Development permits were filed for the five-story mixed-use development at Rockridge Geotechnical’s site at 600 20th Street in San Francisco. This new development will offer office, laboratory, art activity, and residential spaces, as well as over 2,100 square feet of open usable space. From a residential standpoint, only one unit will be constructed in the building, with most of the structure being designated as office and laboratory space. The building will also feature a solar roof and on-site parking for bicycles.

New renderings were released for the eight-story, 37-unit residential development at 2435 Haste Street in Berkeley, one of Rockridge Geotechnical’s sites. The unit sizes in the complex will vary between two-bedrooms and three-bedrooms, and on-site parking will be provided for bicycles. Other amenities include a rooftop deck with views of Alameda County.

After an extensive review process from various departments within the City of Berkeley, the 17-story, 227-unit residential development at Rockridge Geotechnical’s site at 2274 Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley has been given the green light to move forward. This complex will be built behind the façade of the Regal United Artists movie theater, and 23 of the 227 units will be designated as affordable for very low-income households. The building will also include 860 square feet of commercial space, and on-site parking will be provided for cars and bicycles. The development will be close to the Downtown Berkeley BART station and UC Berkeley campus, potentially helping with the university’s housing crisis.

All 75 of the development’s units will be affordable for low- and very low-income households, and on the ground floor, the Native American Health and Cultural Center will maintain a cultural community center, pediatric dental services, pediatric and women’s medical services, and nutrition assistance via Women, Infant, and Children programming. Other amenities will include a community room, outdoor space, and on-site laundry services.

A multi-building development has been proposed at Rockridge Geotechnical’s 2050 Kammerer Avenue site in San Jose. The project will consist of three two-story structures offering workforce housing, creating a total of 78 units. On-site parking for 158 cars will also be included.

Preliminary plans were submitted for a 91-unit affordable residential project at 520 West Alma Avenue in San Jose, one of Rockridge Geotechnical’s sites. Although there have not been many details released about the development, it appears to be transit-oriented, as it will be located close to the Tamien Caltrain and Light Rail Station.

The fifth iteration of design plans are set to be reviewed for the five-story, 75-unit residential development at Rockridge Geotechnical’s site at 800 San Antonio Road in Palo Alto. Of the 75 units, 16 will be designated as affordable, and an on-site garage will contain car and bicycle parking. The complex will also include a 1,080-square-foot retail shop, as well as amenities such as a rooftop deck, fitness center, lounge, and landscaped courtyard.

Plans are moving forward for the construction of a 430,000-square-foot warehouse at 3600 Alameda Avenue in Oakland, one of Rockridge Geotechnical’s sites. Along with the warehouse, the development will also include 30,000 square feet of office space, on-site parking with nearly 300 spots, 228 trailer parking stalls, and 48 loading dock doors. Moreover, before construction begins, the developer is working with the Oakland Fire Department to conduct training exercises at the property.
