A 64-unit affordable housing building named Trillium Senior Apartments, which is being constructed at Rockridge Geotechnical’s site at 675 East Santa Clara Street in San Jose, received a Notice of Exemption that will allow the development to expedite its environmental approvals. Trillium is part of a large-scale project, which will include another senior housing building along with four additional residential buildings. Trillium will consist of three articulated bays connected by multistory walkways, and two landscaped courtyards will sit in between the bays.

Plans for a new two-building development at Rockridge Geotechnical’s 2942 College Avenue site are set to be reviewed by the City of Berkeley. Each of the buildings will be two stories, with a mixed-use building occupying the street front and a residential building at the rear. The mixed-use building will contain nearly 1,500 square feet of ground-floor commercial food space, and the second floor will contain over 1,800 square feet of residential space; the second building will contain nearly 3,000 square feet of residential space across both floors. In total, six new units will be constructed across the two buildings.

Construction has started on the six-story Berkeley Unified School District workforce housing development at 1701 San Pablo Avenue, one of Rockridge Geotechnical’s sites. The complex will contain 110 units, 109 of which will be affordable, along with amenities such as a landscaped central courtyard. On-site parking will be included for 55 cars and 105 bicycles.

The Bay Area Young Survivors (BAYS) Breast Cancer Memorial Garden, which is located at Rockridge Geotechnical’s site at the corner of Arguello Boulevard and Conservatory Drive East in Golden Gate Park, recently opened to the public. The circular memorial is surrounded by landscaped greenery, and it contains wooden benches and a plaque dedicated to 110 young people who have died of breast cancer. The goal of the memorial is to act as a “metaphorical hug” for people affected by cancer.

New plans were released for the eight-story, 83-unit redevelopment of the Alexandria Theater at Rockridge Geotechnical’s site at 5400 Geary Boulevard in San Francisco. Along with its residential space, the building would contain 1,710 square feet of ground-level retail space and a 1,440-square-foot community benefit space. Other residential amenities would include a coworking lounge and communal outdoor space, and the theater would retain its historic façade.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the 113-unit Regional Street Apartments development at Rockridge Geotechnical’s 7750 Saint Patrick Way site in Dublin. Of the 113 units, 112 will be affordable for very low-income seniors, with 34 of these units being allocated to formerly homeless individuals; the final unit will be for the building manager. Amenities will include a community garden, open terraces, pet play areas, a lounge, and on-site laundry, as well as on-site parking.
