Construction has been completed for the 60-unit ArtHaus Chestnut residential complex at Rockridge Geotechnical’s 2432 Chestnut Street site in Oakland. The development’s units will be split across three three-story, 20-unit structures; each of these buildings will contain four townhomes, and each townhome will be divided into five studio residences. On-site parking will be included for cars and bicycles.

The City of Berkeley has given approval for a 739-unit transit-oriented development above the North Berkeley BART station, and Rockridge Geotechnical will be working with the North Berkeley Housing Partners development team on this multi-phase project. The development will consist of 13 buildings up to eight stories in height, and of the 739 units, over half will be affordable; Rockridge Geotechnical will be working with BRIDGE Housing, which is part of the North Berkeley Housing Partners team, to build 236 units across two eight-story buildings and three three-story buildings. Along with the residential units, this massive complex will include a childcare facility, over 6,000 square feet of community-serving ground-floor space, and over 48,000 square feet of public open space.

Plans have surfaced for a 70-unit affordable housing development at 611 El Camino Real in Santa Clara, one of Rockridge Geotechnical’s sites. Of the 70 units, 69 will be affordable, and one will be a manager’s unit. The complex, which will be located next to a Caltrain station, will include amenities such as a courtyard and on-site parking.

The Berkeley Zoning Adjustment Board will be reviewing the 17-story residential development at Rockridge Geotechnical’s site at 2274 Shattuck Avenue. The complex will create 227 units, 23 of which will be affordable, while retaining the façade of the existing United Artist Theater; the project is using the State Density Bonus program to increase residential capacity. The structure will also contain a small entry lobby café and parking for 90 cars, as well as bicycle parking.

Plans for a five-story, 22-unit residential development at Rockridge Geotechnical’s 2317 Channing Way site are set to be reviewed by the Berkeley Zoning Adjustment Board. The building, which is just one block away from UC Berkeley’s campus, will also contain 520 square feet of open space.

Permits were filed for a 16-building, 71-unit residential project along Carlos Avenue at Cypress Point in Moss Beach, one of Rockridge Geotechnical’s sites. Each of the 16 buildings will be two stories, and of the 71 apartments, 70 will be affordable for low-income households, while one market-rate unit will be for the on-site property manager. The development will also include a central community building, along with landscaped common space for residents and on-site parking for cars.

The Oakland City Council has approved plans for a residential development at the old California College of the Arts campus at 5200 Broadway, one of Rockridge Geotechnical’s sites. The project would create four buildings with a combined 448 apartments and 14,390 square feet of commercial space. On-site parking would also be included for 237 cars and 476 bicycles.

An extension request was filed for the entitlement approval of a six-story multifamily residential project at Rockridge Geotechnical’s site at 1320 Washington Street in San Francisco. Previous plans indicate the complex would create 25 new units of housing, and some units will boast private terraces, decks, or yards. Other amenities include a shared rooftop deck and on-site parking for cars and bicycles.

The 100% affordable housing project at Rockridge Geotechnical’s 180 Jones Street site in San Francisco is now available for occupancy. The nine-story complex will create 70 units of affordable housing for low-income residents and previously unhoused adults, and amenities will include on-site social workers, free fiber internet, a landscaped courtyard, and bike parking. Moreover, the building will be powered by 100% renewable energy via CleanPowerSF.

Updated permits were filed for a senior housing development at 1234 Great Highway in San Francisco, one of Rockridge Geotechnical’s sites. Though not much is known about the project yet, the plan is to create a seven-story building with 216 affordable units for seniors. Demolition will be required for the existing tourist hotel on-site.
