A groundbreaking ceremony will be held next month for Nellie Hannon Gateway, an affordable housing project at Rockridge Geotechnical’s 3610 San Pablo Avenue site in Emeryville. The complex, which is 100% affordable, will create 90 new residential units for low-income families. Moreover, 40% of the apartments will be allocated to households transitioning out of homelessness.

New renderings have been released for the eight-story, 207-unit complex at Rockridge Geotechnical’s site at 1598 University Avenue in Berkeley. As a mixed-use project, the development will contain ~5,900 square feet of commercial retail space. Moreover, 21 of the 207 homes in the complex will be affordable, allowing the developer to utilize legislation that boosts homebuilding in California.

Updated plans will be reviewed today for an eight-story laboratory development with on-site parking at 1499 Bayshore Highway in Burlingame, one of Rockridge Geotechnical’s sites. Initially, the site was zoned for an 11-story hotel, but the developer, EKN Development Group, pivoted to a life sciences complex. Now, the project is set to have ~315,000 square feet of laboratory space, along with 639 parking spaces in a seven-story garage.

The Maceo May apartment complex, located at Rockridge Geotechnical’s 55 Cravath Street site on Treasure Island in San Francisco, has opened for residents. The 105-unit development provides homes for formerly unhoused veterans, and it is the first 100% affordable housing project to be completed on Treasure Island.

Updated renderings have been released for the eight-story mixed-use project at Rockridge Geotechnical’s site at 2587 Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley. The development will consist of 48 residential units, five of which will be affordable, and ~2,800 square feet of ground-floor live/work units. Amenities within the building will include a fitness center and on-site bicycle parking.

A discussion is being held to review the revised plans for a five-story, 144-unit development at Rockridge Geotechnical’s 3030 Telegraph Avenue site in Berkeley. Along with the residential portion, the building will include a 1,550-square-foot corner retail space, and seven of the apartments will be designated as affordable for very low-income households. Other amenities will include an outdoor fitness zone, a café, and a barbecue cooking bar.

An application has been submitted to create an affordable housing complex at 8452 Edes Avenue in Oakland, one of Rockridge Geotechnical’s sites. The development would convert the Comfort Inn & Suites currently on-site into a permanent affordable housing complex. The conversion would turn hotel rooms into apartments while also adding a communal kitchen. Currently, the number of proposed residential units is unknown.

Restoration plans have been proposed for the Sierra Madre Apartment complex at Rockridge Geotechnical’s site at 421 Leavenworth Street in San Francisco. The six-story building was damaged by fire in 2021, and this project would rehabilitate the 47 units of public housing within the complex, as well as the community room.

New renderings have been released for the residential development at 3000 Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley, one of Rockridge Geotechnical’s sites. Out of the proposed 166 residential units, 17 of the project’s units will be affordable so the developer can use the State Density Bonus program. Amenities will include bicycle parking and a courtyard with a garden for residents, as well as ~1,000 square feet of retail space.

An Environmental Impact Report is being prepared for a mixed-use development at Rockridge Geotechnical’s site at 749 West El Camino Real in Mountain View. The proposed six-story structure would include 299 residential units, 33 of which would be affordable. The complex would also contain 10,740 square feet of retail space along with on-site parking. A subsidiary structure to house the Chase Bank branch currently on-site is also included in the proposal.
