The new complex will preserve the building’s historic mural while providing vital student housing near the UC Berkeley campus.

Construction is underway for the 11-story, 425-unit affordable residential development at 300 De Haro Street in San Francisco, one of Rockridge Geotechnical’s sites. Along with housing, the complex will boast 6,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space, as well as residential amenities like lounges, a fitness center, and a community kitchen.

Construction has topped out for the four-story Hawthorn Senior Affordable Housing complex, which sits at Rockridge Geotechnical’s 715 East Saint John Street site in San Jose. The development will create 103 apartments, 101 of which will be affordable, including 20 permanent supportive housing residences. On-site services will offer residents educational and workforce development courses, life skills training, and food assistance. Other amenities will include a landscaped central courtyard and on-site parking.

Plans are moving forward for a two-building development at Rockridge Geotechnical’s site at 749 West El Camino Real in Mountain View. This development will consist of a six-story, 299-unit residential building and a two-story bank, with a landscaped public plaza separating the two buildings. Of the 299 units, 33 will be affordable, and residents will have access to an internal courtyard surrounded by the building.

The new three-story campus building for University High School at Rockridge Geotechnical’s 3150 California Street site in San Francisco is now complete. The 48,000-square-foot facility was designed to meet Net Zero Energy Standards, with the building containing classrooms, STEM learning spaces, community gathering spaces, food services, faculty rooms, a new multi-purpose gymnasium, and outdoor common areas. This is the fifth building within the University High School campus, and it is expected to receive LEED Platinum certification.

The five-story, 79-unit Madrone Terrace affordable housing complex opened earlier this month at 16060 East 14th Street in Ashland, one of Rockridge Geotechnical’s sites. Of the 79 apartments, 21 will be allocated to formerly unhoused households with severe mental health needs. Along with the residential units, the development also includes a 12,300-square-foot community center with multipurpose rooms, a fitness center, a pre-K classroom, and an outdoor playground.

Permits were filed for a 20-story, 258-unit apartment complex at Rockridge Geotechnical’s 360 5th Street site in San Francisco. This proposal replaces a previous iteration of the project, which called for the construction of 115 for-sale condominiums. Of the 258 apartments, 40 would be affordable, and amenities would include outdoor balconies on the fourth floor and rooftop, as well as parking for cars and bicycles.

All 130 units will be allocated to low-income households, and the two buildings will be separated by a future Veterans Park. Moreover, on-site parking will be included for cars and bicycles.
