The San Leandro Tech Campus is a transit-oriented office development near the San Leandro BART station. Plans are to construct three 6-story office buildings with 20,000- to 22,000-square-foot floor plates and a 5-level parking structure in three phases. Phase 4 will consist of constructing a residential/mixed-use building.
Phases 1 and 2, consisting of one parking structure and two office buildings, have been completed. The Phase 1 and 2 office buildings are supported on spread footings bearing on the ground improved with drilled displacement sand-cement columns (DDSCs). The parking structure is supported on spread footings bearing on rammed aggregate piers (RAPs). The DDSCs and RAPs were installed to mitigate static and liquefaction-induced ground settlement.
Rockridge Geotechnical (RG) provided geotechnical engineering services for this project during design, construction document preparation, bidding, and permitting. RG provided geotechnical observation and testing services during the construction of Phases 1 and 2 and is currently providing geotechnical observation and testing services during offsite improvements.
