1155 & 1175 Aster Avenue
A unique, transit-oriented, mixed-use development is being constructed within walking distance of Caltrain’s Lawrence station. The project provides a public plaza and other bicycle and pedestrian walkways leading to the Caltrain station to promote transit usage. In addition, the project benefits the Lawrence Station Area Plan, first adopted by the City of Sunnyvale to make better use of the area immediately around the station.

The development will consist of an apartment complex with a wrapped parking garage that will occupy the eastern portion of the site, two condominium buildings near the center, and townhouses on the western portion of the site. Other improvements include private streets, open community space, a plaza, and walkways. Rockridge Geotechnical (RG) performed the geotechnical investigation and provided consultation during design. The primary geotechnical concerns are foundation static settlement, the potential for liquefaction-induced ground settlement, and relatively shallow groundwater. In addition, Rockridge Geotechnical provided recommendations for excavations and shoring, dewatering, mat foundations, post-tensioned slabs, and pavement design.
