Coined as Hayward’s largest-ever residential project, the Lincoln Landing development is a small community within itself. Rockridge Geotechnical (RG) performed a supplemental geotechnical investigation for the site, provided geotechnical design recommendations, consulted with the project team during design, and provided geotechnical services during the construction of the project.
Following the geotechnical investigation, Rockridge Geotechnical determined the major geotechnical issue at the site was providing adequate foundation support by mitigating potential excessive seismic settlements. RG recommended the buildings be supported on a ground improvement system that could double as mitigation for potential liquefaction and cyclic densification at the site during and following a major earthquake. A vibro-stone column (VSC) ground improvement system was then selected and successfully installed during the construction of the project. Additional improvements at the site included major utility installation, new concrete flatwork and pavements (including new parking lots and street renovations), and a new pedestrian walkway/bike path along the adjacent San Lorenzo Creek retaining wall.
