Joseph Lawton
PROJECT GEOLOGIST
Mr. Lawton has provided construction observation, engineering analysis, project management, and geotechnical investigation services for a wide range of projects across the greater San Francisco Bay Area. He has performed geotechnical studies and investigations to develop geotechnical recommendations for the design and construction of low-rise to high-rise residential and commercial development, including affordable housing projects.
Mr. Lawton also has experience overseeing geotechnical construction observation and testing, including site grading, fill placement, and utility trench backfill. He has supervised the installation of shallow foundations, such as spread footings, mat foundations, and post-tensioned slabs, as well as the installation of deep foundations, such as micropiles, drilled piers, driven steel and concrete piles, helical mini-piles, and proprietary deep foundations. He has also observed the installation of ground improvement elements, including rigid inclusion, compaction and permeation grouting, rammed aggregate piers, and the installation of temporary shoring and permanent retaining walls, including tiebacks and soil nails.
