After an extensive review process from various departments within the City of Berkeley, the 17-story, 227-unit residential development at Rockridge Geotechnical’s site at 2274 Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley has been given the green light to move forward. This complex will be built behind the façade of the Regal United Artists movie theater, and 23 of the 227 units will be designated as affordable for very low-income households. The building will also include 860 square feet of commercial space, and on-site parking will be provided for cars and bicycles. The development will be close to the Downtown Berkeley BART station and UC Berkeley campus, potentially helping with the university’s housing crisis.
