Rockridge Geotechnical provides a full range of geotechnical services to a broad spectrum of public and private-sector clients. With over 60 years of experience, our Principals have provided economical and effective foundation solutions for several hundred structures supported on the widely varying subsurface conditions throughout Northern California.

Rockridge Geotechnical has performed geotechnical investigations and geologic hazard evaluations for a wide variety of public projects, including roadways, pipelines, public housing, schools, and renovations of existing public-owned structures. We have also performed evaluations of infrastructure.

Craig S. Shields, P.E., G.E.
Mr. Shields is a Principal Engineer at RG with over 28 years of geotechnical engineering experience in Northern California. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 1981 and a Master of Science degree in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 1982. He has been a licensed civil engineer in the State of California since 1984 and a registered geotechnical engineer in the State of California since 1989.

Mr. Shields' experience includes directing explorations of soil, rock, and groundwater conditions, design and evaluation of foundation systems, static and dynamic slope stability analyses, evaluation of liquefaction potential and lateral spreading, ground improvement, forensic investigations, and construction monitoring. He has been responsible for geotechnical investigations performed for numerous public projects throughout Northern California.

His recent experience includes directing geotechnical investigations for improvements to the Orientation Center for the Blind in Albany, a DGS project, and a major renovation and addition to the Naval Architecture Building at the University of California, Berkeley. He also performed an evaluation of settlement of gravity utilities along a section of Littlefield Road for the City of South San Francisco.
